UN Global Compact

Bilfinger Berger has been a member of the UN Global Compact since 2008. The United Nations Global Compact is an international association of companies and organizations. Its members have committed themselves to supporting human rights, abolishing discriminatory labor and social practices, improving environmental protection and fighting corruption in all its forms within their scope of influence. This relates specifically to the following principles:

         Human Rights

  1. Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
  2. ensure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

    Labor Standards
  3. Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
  4. the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labor;
  5. the effective abolition of child labor; and
  6. the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

    Environmental protection
  7. Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
  8. undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
  9. encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

    Corruption
  10. Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.  

We believe it is also our duty to conduct business activities in accordance with the principles of this initiative. The principles of Global Compact correspond to the values and fundamentals that guide our business transactions and that can be found in the Group's Vision Statement and our Code of Conduct.
